New Oxford Kitchen Fire

A fireman from the first due engine company makes entry into the kitchen of the one story single family dwelling Sunday afternoon on Elm Lane in Oxford Township, New Oxford Pa. Units found a kitchen fire with smoke throughout. The family escaped with their two pet dogs.

Well Involved House in York County

Several York And Adams County fire departments operated at this well involved house fire this afternoon in Paradise Township on Maple Grove Road. A close call happened as seen in photos 1117-1133, the front wall collapsed nearly striking firefighters. The fire was placed under control in about one hour. This is the second time firefighters have responded to this property for fires, the first time was for a fully involved garage to the left of the this structure. The home owner told the police officers on scene, he was burning debris and it got away from him. this was the second house fire of the day for most of the firefighters on this incident.

Gettysburg House Fire

Martin Road House Fire (13 of 123)

Gettysburg Fire Department along with surrounding mutual aid companies were dispatched for a House fire on Martin Road just east of Gettysburg. Chief 54 (AREMS) arrived reporting fire showing from the cockloft of a rancher style house. While the crews from Engine 33-1 & Tanker 6 placed an attack line in service, Gettysburg firefighters vented the house. A working fire dispatch was sounded. Firefighters had the fire knocked down and under control in 30 minutes.

Hanover Memorial Day


Hanover and Penn Township firefighters salute during the playing of taps Monday morning during the annual memorial where the four departments including Hanover, Penn, Pleasant Hill and S.A.V.E.S. gather at the Wirt Park Station and read the names of their fallen members over the past year. Smoking and Oxygen Doesn’t Mix


A man on home oxygen was smoking and somehow set his house on fire, causing burns to himself as well. Firefighters arrived to find a light smoke condition in the house with the man in cardiac arrest. Life support was performed by EMS, the man subsequently passed away the following week. Photo gallery here.
