On Saturday, the Alpha Fire Company #1 of Littlestown hosted its second annual softball tournament to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Seven teams participated. They were from the local area, as well as teams from Frederick and Carroll County in Maryland and Loudoun County in Virginia. The finals featured 911 Photography of New Oxford against last year’s champion — the Professional Firefighters of the Potomac.

In the teams’ third matchup of the day, 911 Photography triumphed to take the tournament crown. Organizers issued their thanks to all participants, umpires, the Borough of Littlestown for the use of the fields, and all who came to cheer on their teams and help make this event a success.

The NFFF is the organization in Emmittsburg, Md., that, each October, honors all the firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty.

This year’s event will be held Oct. 5-6, and local firefighter Brandon Little, who was killed in the line of duty in January 2012, will be honored.
