Jeff Snyder Accepts Fire Chief Position

Please join us in wishing Jeff Snyder congratulations and best wishes as he has been offered and accepted the position of Fire Chief for Borough of Carlisle.
Chief Snyder’s first day will be December 16, 2013.Chief Snyder recently retired from the Harrisburg Fire Department, where he started as a professional firefighter in 1990. He rose through the ranks of the Harrisburg Fire Dept., first to Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, and also served as an acting Deputy Chief. During his 22-year career, Chief Snyder received numerous awards, including the “Award for Bravery” in 1997.
In addition to his professional career, Chief Snyder has been a volunteer firefighter since 1975, when he joined the New Oxford Fire Dept in his home town of New Oxford where Jeff held nearly every line officer position including chief of department. Chief Snyder was an active member of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Team. In this capacity, he was deployed to the World Trade Center for 9/11, as well as responses to Hurricane, Katrina in 2005.
Chief Snyder has numerous certifications at the national level. He is a certified instructor through the PA State Fire Academy, and teaches both fire and rescue courses for HACC.

Chief Snyder will be in command of the boroughs two fire stations, Station 41 and Station 45
